About Riley Ater

I am a filmmaker from Manassas, Virginia, currently getting a Bachelor of Arts in Film and Video Studies at George Mason University. I chose this program to develop my technical skills and strengthen my voice as a visual artist. My work focuses on experimenting with the editing of moving images and sound to create emotional impact. I enjoy testing how different approaches to cinematography can shift the audience’s experience and perspective. In 2024, my film, The Audition, was featured in the George Mason “Best Of” Film Festival circuit. I plan on submitting my work to festivals while building an online portfolio where viewers will be able to access my completed films. I come to each project with a new approach to expand my skillset and create a fitting mood and tone.
